the city of dunwoody is seeking "improvements" for this intersection
Dunwoody says they have three options for the Vermack-Womack intersection: Do nothing. Install a traffic light. Install a roundabout. Click here and take our poll to offer your vote.
The city has already ruled out the traffic light (for now), but is pushing for the roundabout. See the city's proposals and some data on their web page by clicking here (*scroll to bottom for the Vermack-Womack intersection information, along with additional links and images) and has compiled its information for the public to view, gathered by clicking here.
There was a presentation by the city and the engineering firm hired to suggest possible construction ideas. However, there were many questions residents had that were not answered at the meeting. They have now been answered: CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS. But a big question Council has not answered: how much money are they prepared to spend on this intersection? And, another important question is: how much money is the Dunwoody City Council willing to spend to fight its residents in an eminent domain court fight? Those should be answered as part of the planning discussions.
Many residents don't believe the proposals will solve safety or traffic concerns, but rather, the intersection and its streets will become more hazardous and create a large increase in volume. Additionally, the project did not even take into account the traffic from the high school or how to reroute it. At this point, this project is a mess and nearby homeowners are steadfastly opposed to it.
